ED Raid: Houses of Congress Leaders in Chhattisgarh

ED Raid action before the Congress General Conference – Raids at the houses of many Congress leaders in Chhattisgarh.

ED raids several places including Congress office bearers in Chhattisgarh Enforcement Directorate (ED) has taken major action on the alleged coal levy scam in Chhattisgarh. These raids have been done at a time when the Congress Party’s general convention is to be held in the Raipur district of Chhattisgarh from February 24th to 26th.

All the ED raids have been done at the places of office bearers and legislators close to Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel.

Even before this, the ED team has taken action many times, but it has happened for the first time that the team has directly raided the houses of Congress leaders.

It is being told that the ED, which is probing money laundering in the coal scam, has raided more than a dozen places, including houses of Congress leaders. According to sources, the ED is also investigating those people It is alleged that a coal scam has taken place in Chhattisgarh, in which senior bureaucrats, businessmen, politicians, and middlemen are suspected to be involved.

It is alleged that with the connivance of senior bureaucrats, businessmen, politicians, and middlemen, ₹ 25 per tonne of coal was illegally raised in the state. According to the ED, in 2021, about 500 crore rupees were recovered in this way. There is also an allegation of the involvement of many Congress leaders.

The leaders who the ED has raided include State Congress Committee Treasurer Ram Gopal Agarwal, Labor Welfare Board President Sunil sunny Agarwal, MLA Devendra Yadav, Spokesperson Vinod Tiwari, Congress media spokesperson RP Singh, etc.

Bhupesh Baghel Accuses The Central Government of An ED Raid

Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel said that the central government is destabilizing the state government through ED raids. He tweeted that the ED has raided the houses of several Congress leaders, including the former Vice President of the Treasurer of the Congress Committee of Chhattisgarh and MLAs.

He said that after in few days, there is a grand convention of the Congress in Raipur, and preparations are being made for which his companions are engaged, in this way efforts are being made to break their spirits.

In January 2023, Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel accused the Modi government at the Center and said that ever since Eknath Shinde became the Chief Minister in Maharashtra, the ED, ET, and CBI are no longer working there, but now everyone is living there in a normal way. All the artists have stopped consuming intoxicated there. He also said that when there was the Shiv-Sena-NCP Congress government there people used to run behind even for 10 grams of ganja but at present, no one is intoxicated there.

Raids Are Done By ED Earlier Also

Earlier in October 2022, about 40 locations were raided by ED, then 4 crore rupees, goods worth crores, and important documents were recovered in the raid.

During this, the whereabouts of many politicians, businessmen, and officers were investigated. Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel denied all these allegations and said that the central government is misusing the investigative agencies. Central investigative agencies are being used politically before the assembly elections.

The ED had arrested IAS officers Sameer Vishnoi, coal barons Sunil Aggarwal and Laxmikant Tiwari, Suryakant Diwari, and Saumya Chaurasia, deputy secretary of the chief minister’s secretariat.

ED attached movable and immovable assets worth Rs 152.13 crore of IAS officers and some others.

Congress Convention To Be Held in Chhattisgarh from February 24

Congress party’s general convention is going to be held in Chhattisgarh in the next few days. In this way, ED’s raid on the houses of Congress leaders in the state is raising many questions.
