Acting Prime Minister Modi was going to stake claim to form a new government at the Center on Wednesday, but no such action has been taken by Allah yet as Nitish Kumar, Chandrababu Naidu, and other NDA members chose Narendra Modi as their leader.
Prime Minister Modi resigned along with the Union Council of Ministers on Wednesday. He had submitted his resignation to President Draupadi Murmu. Rashtrapati Bhavan said that the President had accepted the resignation, and the Prime Minister and the Union Council of Ministers were also requested to continue in office till the formation of a new government.
The developments came to light after Tuesday’s Election Commission of India declared the results of the Lok Sabha Elections 2024. The BJP won 240 of the 543 seats while the Congress got only 99 seats. Despite the Lok Sabha having 543 members, the votes were counted for 542 seats after the unopposed election of BJP’s Surat candidate Mukesh Dalal. The BJP missed the majority figure of 272 but will depend on NDA allies to form a government. The election results did not give the massive victory expected by the NDA to the leaders of the BJP, as indicated by the exit polls.
