Voting to elect new assemblies in Meghalaya and Nagaland (Votes Cast in Meghalaya and Nagaland Election 2023) concluded on Monday. 76.66 percent of voters in Meghalaya while 84.66 percent of voters Voted using the voting rights in Nagaland. A total of 559 candidates including 40 women candidates are in the fray in both states.

Voting to elect new assemblies in Meghalaya and Nagaland concluded on Monday. Voters cast their votes in both states. 76.66 percent of voters in Meghalaya while In Nagaland, 84.66 percent of voters exercised their voting rights.
59 of The 60 Assembly Constituencies Are Up for Election.
Voting began at 7:00 am for 59 out of 60 assembly constituencies in Meghalaya. As the day progressed, the turnout also picked up. The Election officer said that peaceful polling took place. Long queues of voters were also seen outside the polling stations. No untoward incident has been reported from any part of Meghalaya.

By-Elections On 3 Assembly Seats Concluded Peacefully
Bye-elections to 3 assembly seats from different states concluded peacefully on Monday. 63% voting recorded since 3:00 pm in Bengal’s Sagar Devi assembly constituency in Murshidabad district. The ruling Trinamool Congress has accused the CRPF jawans of influencing voters.
Free and Fair Polling
The Election Officer told that there was a problem with the EVMs of some polling stations. But later it was fixed. Assembly elections in Nagaland (Meghalaya and Nagaland Election 2023), usually known for militant violence at times, concluded peacefully on Monday. The polling was conducted in a free and fair manner Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio cast his vote at 11.45 am at a polling station in his village 183 candidates are in the fray for 59 assembly seats in the state. Polling in Nagaland was conducted in a peaceful, free, and fair manner. However, stone pelting and aerial firing created an atmosphere of tension in the Bhandari assembly constituency.
By-Elections Are Also Going on in Three States
Polling also took place in Erode in Tamil Nadu and Ramgarh’s seat in Jharkhand and Sagardighi’s seat in West Bengal (Meghalaya and Nagaland Election 2023). Bypolls are being held in Jharkhand after the disqualification of Congress MLA Mamta Devi. In Jharkhand’s Ramgarh seat, 67.96 percent of voters cast their votes till 5:00 pm. 63.43 percent of voters cast their votes in the Sagardighi seat of West Bengal. 70.58 percent polling recorded till 5:00 pm in Road, Tamil Nadu. Voting was suspended at 2 polling stations due to EVM glitches.
