World Heritage Day 2023: What is World Heritage Day & theme?

World Heritage Day 2023

World Heritage Day or World Heritage Day is celebrated every year on 18 April. It is also considered an international observation. There are a total of 3691 such monuments and sites in India, which remain in the heritage category, and out of these 40 sites are built in UNESCO World Heritage.

The main purpose of celebrating World Heritage Day is to save the heritage of cultural sites related to human civilization from extinction worldwide and also to conserve various historical heritage and spread awareness among people about them. Let us tell you that since 1983, the International Council has also set a theme regarding monuments and sites, so every year World Heritage Day is celebrated on 18 April with a different theme.

The day was also recognized as a world event during the 22nd General Conference of the United Nations Educational, Cultural Organization (UNESCO) and Scientific. It was first celebrated by UNESCO in 1983 as World Heritage Day.
